A rain shower swept across Dhaka today (20 March), on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, bringing a welcome break from the capital’s typical pre-summer heat.
The rainfall began around noon in several parts of the city, accompanied by gusty winds and overcast skies.
The rain cooled down the temperature as well as helped settle dust, which improved air quality.
Many areas saw light to moderate showers, while in some neighbourhoods the rain was heavier.
Weather officials had earlier indicated the possibility of isolated rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, driven by seasonal changes and shifting wind patterns.
While the rain may not last long, it has brought relief to city dwellers – and a cleaner, cooler atmosphere just in time for Eid celebrations.
