Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman offered prayers for the souls of all Liberation War martyrs and sought Allah’s blessings for the nation’s peace, prosperity and welfare at the National Memorial in Savar at 6am today (26 March) on the occasion of Independence Day.
Speaking to the journalists at the National Memorial, Dr Shafiqur Rahman said, “We prayed to Allah that the independence and sovereignty of this country may remain intact. May Allah bestow peace and mercy upon the people of this nation. May we collectively build a humane Bangladesh, free from violence, corruption, and inequality.”

The occasion was also attended by the organization’s Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam, Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Central Executive Council member and Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan (South) Nurul Islam Bulbul, Central Executive Council member Mobarak Hossain, Central Executive Council member and Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan (South) Dr Md Shafiqul Islam Masud, Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam, Majlis-e-Shura member and Assistant Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan (South) Mohammad Kamal Hossain, and Majlis-e-Shura member and Ameer of Dhaka District Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi.
