Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Cox’s Bazar on a one-day tour on 13 June.
According to the schedule signed by Prime Minister’s Protocol Officer-1 Mohammad Ujjal Hossain, he will arrive in Cox’s Bazar by air at 10am and return to Dhaka the same night at 10pm.
As part of the daylong programme, the prime minister will travel directly from the airport to Pmkhali union in Cox’s Bazar Sadar to inaugurate the re-excavation of Patli Khal, a canal originally excavated under the initiative of former president Ziaur Rahman.
He is also scheduled to address a roadside gathering there at 10:30am.
He will then visit Dulahazara Safari Park in Chakaria, where he will inaugurate a nationwide tree plantation programme involving the planting of 250 million trees at noon, followed by a tour of the park.
Later, he will proceed to Pekua upazila to pay respects at the grave of Md Wasim Akram, who was killed during the 2024 July Uprising, and meet members of his family.
At 1:30pm, the prime minister will attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the newly formed Matamuhuri upazila and take part in a prayer session.
He will then travel to Pekua again to attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Pekua Municipality. After offering Zuhr prayers and having lunch there, he will leave for Chakaria.
At 4pm, he is scheduled to address a public rally in Chakaria Municipality as the chief guest. Following the rally, he will inspect the Marine Drive road and the sea beach at around 6pm.
In the final phase of the visit, he will attend an exchange-of-views meeting with local distinguished citizens at 8pm at Long Beach Hotel in Kolatoli, Cox’s Bazar.
