Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered immediate removal of advertisements and banners congratulating him, featuring his photographs across the capital.
The instruction was given today (3 March) to the relevant authorities, according to the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.
Atikur said, “This morning, while travelling from his residence, the prime minister noticed a banner featuring his image in front of Police Plaza at Hatirjheel and ordered its immediate removal. The banner has been put down promptly.”
He also said, “Several companies put up advertisements on various billboards across the capital congratulating the prime minister with his photograph. The PM instructed the concerned authorities to remove those advertisements quickly.”
“A few days earlier, while passing through Bijoy Sarani, the PM also ordered the removal of his image displayed on an LED screen that was showing congratulatory messages,” said Atikur.
Atikur further said that traffic movement in the capital has improved as vehicles are increasingly complying with traffic signals, citing a report presented to the prime minister by the relevant authorities.
He said, “According to statistics from the past 14 days cited in the report, the average vehicle speed has increased to 5.3 kilometers per hour from 4.5, as traffic is no longer being halted for VVIP movement.”
