Police recovered the hanging body of a nurse last night (5 March) from a house in the Hossaini Dalan area of Old Dhaka, and found a note beside the body seeking justice against her husband and in-laws.
The deceased was identified as Nahida Akter Bobi, 29, a nurse at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The body was later sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College for autopsy today afternoon (6 March).
Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge of Chawkbazar Police Station, said police recovered the body from a room of the house after receiving information on Thursday night.
Bobi was from the Railway Colony area of Sirajganj Sadar upazila.
Her cousin Farhad Hossain said the family learned about her death through the police and later went to the house where they saw the body.
He further said they still do not know the details of the incident.
She was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a scarf tied around her neck, he added.
Quoting neighbours, the OC said an argument broke out between the couple around iftar time on Thursday. At one stage, the husband left the house.
When he returned at night, he found the door locked from the inside. After breaking open the door, he saw his wife hanging.
