At least seven coaches of the Nilsagar Express derailed today (18 March) near Tilakpur station between Santahar in Bogura and Akkelpur in Joypurhat, disrupting train services on key northern routes.
The Dhaka-bound train, numbered 765, travelling towards Chilahati, went off the tracks with 7 coaches in what witnesses described as a severe accident. The incident occurred on a single-line section, leading to the suspension of all train movements from Santahar to Chilahati, Panchagarh and Saidpur, according to videos posted on Facebook.
The train was carrying a large number of homebound passengers ahead of Eid, and several people were reportedly injured in the incident.
