The average age of the winners in the 13th general election is 59, according to Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), which described the new parliament as “comparatively young.”
At a press conference today (16 February), held to mark the release of a report titled “13th National Parliamentary Election Process and Affidavit-Based Observation,” TIB said among the elected MPs, 3.03% are aged 25-34, 6.73% are 35-44, 18.86% are 45-54, 33.67% are 55-64 and 36.03% are over 65 years old.

TIB added that 209 members have been elected to parliament for the first time in this election.
Both the prospective leader of the house and the opposition leader are entering parliament for the first time, it mentioned.
