The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for submitting online VAT returns for the January 2026 tax period by one week.
In a notification issued on yesterday (15 February), the revenue authority said taxpayers will now be able to file their returns through the e-VAT system until 22 February, instead of the earlier deadline.
According to the notification, the extension was granted due to a series of prolonged government holidays marking Shab-e-Barat and the 13th National Parliamentary Election, as well as temporary disruptions to the e-challan system and VAT server on 15 February, which affected taxpayers’ ability to submit returns on time.
