Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unlikely to attend the swearing-in ceremony of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman as Bangladesh’s prime minister on 17 February, according to media reports.
PTI reported late last night (14 February), citing people familiar with the matter, that Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with visiting French President Emmanuel Macron in Mumbai on 17 February.
However, India may send a senior government functionary to attend Rahman’s swearing-in ceremony,
Bangladesh has reportedly already communicated its plan to India. However, there has been no official word on the invitation yet.
