BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas today (26 January) called on people to step forward to protect their voting rights, saying the election scheduled for 12 February is crucial for the country.
Addressing a views-exchange meeting organised by Shramik Dal in the capital’s Shahbagh area, he said people must raise their voices themselves to safeguard their rights.
Abbas, also the party’s candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, said the BNP has been carrying out movements and has grown stronger by relying on its own strength with public support.
“Although we have allies and partner parties, some groups are now standing against us out of fear of BNP’s strength,” he said.
He alleged that even before coming to power, attempts were being made to portray the BNP as guilty through “propaganda and misinformation”.
