Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, editor-in-chief of the Daily Manab Zamin, has been elected president of the Newspaper Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (Noab), according to a notification issued today (14 March).
Chairman of Noab Election Board M Masrur Reaz announced the new committee for the 2026-2027 term, whose members were elected unopposed at a meeting held earlier in the day.
Other office-bearers include Vice-President ASM Shahidullah Khan, chairman of the editorial board of New Age; and Treasurer Altamash Kabir, publisher of Dainik Sangbad.
The executive committee members are AK Azad, publisher of Samakal; Matiur Rahman, editor and publisher of Prothom Alo; Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star; Tasmima Hossain, editor of Ittefaq; AMM Bahauddin, editor of Daily Inqilab; Dewan Hanif Mahmud, editor of Daily Bonik Barta; Mozammel Haque, editor of Daily Karatoa; MA Malek, editor of Dainik Azad; Ramiz Uddin Chowdhury, editor of Dainik Purbokone; and Nasim Manzur, publisher of The Financial Express.
