Police detained a man today (24 May) over allegations of raping a five-year-old child in Fatullah area of Narayanganj.
The incident occurred yesterday in an apartment at the West Tolla area of Fatullah which the accused Anwar shared with the victim’s parents.
Fatullah Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahabubur Alam said the victim was sent to a hospital for a medical examination.
Legal proceedings were ongoing, he added.
According to police, the victim’s family and Anwar live in adjacent rented rooms in the same house. Both parents of the child are working professionals.
Yesterday morning, they left for their workplaces. Around 11am, the accused, Anwar entered the child’s room under the pretext of charging a mobile phone and allegedly raped her.
When the parents returned home at night, the child informed them of the matter.
Following a verbal complaint at the police station this morning, police detained Anwar.
