Long queues have formed at fuel stations across Satkhira, causing severe hardship for drivers and disrupting daily life.
Hundreds of vehicle operators have been waiting at filling stations from night to morning for fuel, with no clear information on when supplies will be available. The situation has led to widespread frustration among commuters and workers.
A visit to AB Khan Petrol Pump in the town showed hundreds of drivers lining up since last night (5 April). Many said the suffering seems endless as they remain uncertain about when fuel distribution will begin.
Motorcycle rider Touhiduzzaman said he has spent both day and night waiting for fuel, yet still has no idea when it will be available.
“I cannot do any work the entire day just to get fuel. It is affecting both my professional and family life,” he said, adding that frustration has gripped people from all professions, government and private employees alike.
Authorities at AB Khan Filling Station said a tanker left for the depot in Khulna at 7am to collect fuel. Distribution is expected to begin after it returns, likely after 3pm.
Meanwhile, not all of the district’s 28 filling stations are supplying fuel today. Long queues have formed at those that are operational, and many people are returning empty-handed even after waiting all day.
Satkhira district administration official Tajul Islam said mobile court teams led by executive magistrates are working in the field to prevent hoarding and control the situation.
However, he could not confirm how many filling stations would receive fuel today.
