National Citizen Party (NCP) joint convener and Kurigram-2 MP, Dr Atiqur Rahman Mujahid, was injured in a road accident today (17 March) while returning to his constituency from Dhaka, when the microbus he was travelling in reportedly collided head-on with a fast-moving truck.
The accident occurred near Kaunia Bailey Bridge on the Rangpur-Kurigram highway, NCP Media Cell member Yasin Arafat confirmed.
According to Arafat, the microbus carrying the MP collided head-on with a fast-moving truck coming from the opposite direction.
Following the collision, the vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and fell into a roadside ditch, sustaining significant damage, Arafat said.
Arafat added that while Atiqur escaped with minor injuries, his driver and personal assistant were seriously hurt.
He also stated that Atiqur received initial medical attention and is currently at home, while the driver and personal assistant were rescued by police and admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
