State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has announced plans to bring the entire Jashore city under 100% CCTV surveillance to improve law and order.
He made the announcement on today (19 March) around 12pm while inaugurating the upward expansion of a drainage system and an RCC road from Garikhana Road to MM Ali Road (Bagh Potti) in the city.
The state minister said the initiative aims to maintain normal law and order and make it easier for law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties. “Residents of Jashore supported me in the 13th national election. I want to rebuild Jashore in a new way with the people,” he said.
The lawmaker from Jashore-3 (Sadar) constituency also highlighted the need for alternative roads to ease traffic movement in the city, adding that the newly inaugurated road marks the beginning of that effort.
He further said one of his election pledges was to free the city from waterlogging. “Work is ongoing, and we expect to complete it well before the next monsoon season. The suffering people faced during the last monsoon will be significantly reduced in the upcoming season,” he added.
He also noted that efforts to improve the law and order situation are continuing.
Among others present at the event were District Council Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam, Municipal Administrator Rafiqul Hasan, District BNP President Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, former Vice President Golam Reza Dulu, Jessore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Secretary Tanvirul Islam Sohan, Jessore Press Club President Zahid Hasan Tukun, and Assistant Engineer of Jessore Municipality BM Kamal Ahmed.
