Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami ameer and Member of Parliament (MP) Shafiqur Rahman today (21 March) exchanged Eid greetings with diplomats from various countries at his official residence on Minto Road in the capital.
The programme, held from 11am to 12:30pm, was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions from a wide range of countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, China, Turkey, Germany, Japan, India, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and others, according to a press release.
Representatives from international organisations such as UNDP, UNESCO, and UNICEF were also present at the event.
Following the exchange of greetings, guests were served traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.
Offers Eid prayers
Earlier in the day, Shafiqur Rahman offered the holy Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at 8am at the Monipur Girls’ High School ground adjacent to 60 Feet Road in Mirpur.
After the prayers, he exchanged Eid greetings with people from different walks of life.
Later in the afternoon, he also met with political leaders and professionals from various sectors at his residence, continuing the Eid greetings from 3pm to 4:30pm, the press release added.
