Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma inaugurated a group art exhibition at Galleri Kaya in Dhaka, titled “CROSSROAD… not a project” yesterday (3 April).
Featuring 11 contemporary Bangladeshi artists, including Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholars, the artworks span diverse themes – from tributes to the Language Movement martyrs to evocative depictions of everyday life and nature, reads a press release.
In his speech, the high commissioner said, “In the India-Bangladesh relations, art is a very strong medium that brings our people together. It manifests that connection.
“Apart from the fact that we share a history, geography, language, culture, traditions, art has always been a foundational connector between us. Exchange of art and artists has been very profoundly part of our culture and of our engagement. They have inspired each other, they have influenced each other, and they have collaborated with each other to produce masterpieces.
“I look forward to more and more exchanges between India and Bangladesh in the field of art, and we will be very happy to facilitate it, enable it and encourage it in whatever way we can.”
