The Chamber Court of the Appellate Division has fixed 26 April for a hearing on the government’s petition seeking to stay the HC order granting bail to former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque in multiple cases.
The order was passed today (7 April) by Justice Md Rezaul Haque, who directed that the matter be placed before a regular bench of the Appellate Division for further hearing.
The cases against Khairul Haque include the killing of a Jubo Dal activist during the July Uprising, allegations of verdict forgery linked to the Caretaker Government and five cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Earlier, on 8 March, an HC bench comprising Justice Md Khairul Alam and Justice Md Sagir Hossain granted bail to the former chief justice in four cases. He subsequently secured bail on 11 March in ACC case.
The government later moved to challenge the bail orders, prompting the latest development in the Chamber Court.
