The government has reassigned the responsibilities of two advisers to the prime minister and eight state ministers through separate gazette notifications issued by the Cabinet Division.
The Cabinet Division issued separate gazette notifications yesterday (3 March), signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani, outlining the portfolio changes.
According to the notification, Political Adviser to the prime minister, Nazrul Islam Khan, who holds the rank of a minister, will also serve as adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture.
Political Adviser to the prime minister, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, has been assigned to the Ministry of Industries.
In a separate notification, State Minister Md Shariful Alam has been assigned responsibility for the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, removing him from his previous duties at the ministries of Commerce, Industries, and Textiles and Jute.
State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has been given charge of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. He previously held responsibility for this ministry along with the ministries of Agriculture and Food.
State Minister Habibur Rashid has been assigned the Ministry of Railways and the Road Transport and Highways Division. He previously carried out responsibilities for these ministries and divisions along with the Bridges Division and the Ministry of Shipping.
State Minister Rajib Ahsan has been placed in charge of the Ministry of Shipping and the Bridges Division.
Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, who previously oversaw both finance and planning, has been assigned exclusively to the Ministry of Planning.
Farzana Sharmin, formerly handling both the women and children affairs and social welfare ministries, will now serve only as the state minister for social welfare.
State Minister Md Nurul Huq has been moved from his dual role in the labour and expatriates’ welfare ministries to focus solely on the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
Bobby Hajjaj, who previously held a combined role in the education and primary education sectors, has been assigned specifically to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
