National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has expressed hope that ruling party members of parliament will take oath in the Constitutional Reform Council when the new parliamentary session begins tomorrow.
“People across the country are looking towards parliament. We hope the government MPs will take oath in the Constitutional Reform Council and the president will be removed,” he said while addressing the Rangpur divisional iftar and doa mahfil organised by his party at Shaheed Abu Sayed Stadium in Rangpur today (11 March).
Nahid added that if these steps are not taken, citizens will need to raise their voices from their respective positions.
“These are not demands of our party alone; they are the demands of a new Bangladesh. Everyone, regardless of party affiliation, should raise their voices for this,” he said.
Expressing his expectations for the upcoming parliament, Nahid Islam said he wants to see an effective legislature.
“We hope the opposition will be given the opportunity to speak and that all commitments will be honoured,” he added.
