State Minister for Planning Zonayed Saki has said the current government is committed to presenting reliable and accurate economic data, stressing that no manipulation or distortion will be tolerated.
While speaking as the chief guest at a seminar in the auditorium of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) in Agargaon today (13 April), the state minister said, “The core commitment of the current government is to present data and statistics reliably.
“Under the strict directives of the prime minister, information must be presented accurately. No form of manipulation or tampering will be tolerated.”
Emphasising the importance of transparency for sustainable economic development, Zonayed Saki noted that there is no alternative to accurate and precise data.
He added that ensuring reliable data across all sectors would help eliminate duplication and reduce misinformation.
Referring to the long-standing controversies regarding GDP figures during the previous administration’s tenure, the state minister said, “We have previously criticised the discrepancies in GDP data. It is now our responsibility to present the correct information to the public. Ensuring data reliability is our top priority.”
