Fuel shortage hits Satkhira pumps; drivers kept in dark about possible resumption

Most filling stations in Satkhira have shut down citing a shortage of fuel. Some pumps are completely empty, while hundreds of drivers are waiting in line for fuel at others.

Customers complain that there is no fuel at the pumps, and they are not being told when it will be available. The suffering caused by the shortage seems endless.

Filling station authorities say that fuel will be supplied to customers after it is brought from the depot. At present, there is no fuel at the pumps. Majumdar Filling Station in Patkelghata said fuel distribution may be possible after 4pm or 5pm.

Authorities of AB Khan Filling Station in the city said that it will not be possible to supply fuel today. Fuel will be distributed tomorrow after it arrives from the depot.

Meanwhile, members of law enforcement agencies are present to keep the situation under control at the pumps.

Tajul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (ADM) of Satkhira district administration, said that efforts are underway through Upazila Nirbahi Officers to appoint officers at all pumps in the district to manage the situation.
