French Deputy Homeland Security Attaché Christelle Fontaine has paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters today (29 March).
During the meeting, Christelle Fontaine expressed her country’s eagerness to support Bangladesh Police in its capacity building particularly on crowd control and investigation.
Fontaine praised the role and performance of Bangladesh Police during the 13th National Parliament Election.
She expressed France’s interest in supporting the capacity development of Bangladesh Police, particularly in areas such as crowd control, migrant assistance, crime investigation, and institutional strengthening, according to a press release of the Police Headquarters.
Welcoming the proposal, the IGP emphasised the importance of modernising traffic management in Dhaka and enhancing the operational skills of police personnel deployed in hilly regions and Rohingya camps.
He also highlighted the need for specialised training in migration management, cyber security and combating human trafficking.
Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Bangladesh and France.
Senior police officers were present during the meeting.
