Police have arrested a former councillor of Ward 30 of the Dhaka North City Corporation.
They apprehended Abul Hashem Hasu, a leader of the banned Awami League, at around 10:30pm yesterday (19 March) at his residence in Adabor of the capital, confirmed Adabor Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Ziaur Rahman.
He told The Business Standard that Hasu faces multiple cases, including a murder case linked to the July Uprising.
It was not immediately clear in which case Hasu had been arrested.
He had been on the run since the July Uprising, OC Ziaur said, adding that police arrested him after receiving information that he had returned home.
