Amid a major administrative reshuffle, the government has removed five deputy commissioners (DCs) from districts across the country.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard today (1 March).
According to the notification, the DCs of Gazipur, Panchagarh, Kushtia, Netrokona and Chapainawabganj have been withdrawn.
The officers, who hold the rank of Deputy Secretary, have been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration for further posting.
The withdrawn officials are: Gazipur DC Mohammad Alam Hossain, Panchagarh DC Kazi Md. Sayemuzzaman, Kushtia DC, Md Iqbal Hossain, Netrokona DC, Md Saifur Rahman and Chapainawabganj DC, Md Shahadat Hossain.
According to sources at the Ministry of Public Administration, similar changes will be made in other districts in phases.
Elected members of parliament may choose officials of their preference for the posts of deputy commissioner (DC), superintendent of police (SP), and officer-in-charge (OC) of police stations to facilitate their activities.
Meanwhile, Md AbuBakor Sarker, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Sarail in Brahmanbaria, has been withdrawn and appointed as private secretary to the state minister for agriculture.
Md Alamgir Hussain, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Narayanganj district, has been made private secretary to the state minister for environment, forest and climate change.
Mahbubul Islam, assistant commissioner (land) of Bahubal upazila in Habiganj, has been appointed private secretary to the minister for labour and employment.
