The government has sent five Additional Inspectors General of Police (Additional IGPs) into compulsory retirement.
The information was announced through five separate notifications signed by the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Manzur Morshed Chowdhury.
The order, issued in the public interest, takes effect immediately.
The officials who have been sent to retirement are Abu Hasan Muhammad Tariq, Mohammad Abdul Aleem Mahmud, Md Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Kusum Dewan and Md Towfiq Mahbub Chowdhury.
Among them, Abu Hasan Muhammad Tariq and Mohammad Abdul Aleem Mahmud were serving as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Md. Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan was working in a TR post at the Police Headquarters. Towfiq Mahbub Chowdhury was serving at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, while Kusum Dewan was performing duties as an Additional IGP in the River Police.
According to the notifications, they have been sent to retirement from government service in the public interest under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018).
The notifications also stated that they will receive all retirement benefits in accordance with the rules.
