The first cabinet meeting of the newly formed BNP government was held at the Secretariat in Dhaka today (18 February).
The meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, took place at 3pm at the Cabinet Division.
All members of the new cabinet attended the session, marking the formal commencement of the government’s executive activities following its formation yesterday (17 February).
Yesterday afternoon, the prime minister, 25 ministers, and 24 state ministers of the new government were sworn in.
Later at night, the Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification allocating portfolios among them.
The prime minister began the first day in office today by paying tribute, alongside the cabinet members, at the National Memorial in Savar in the morning, paying tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War.
