A fire broke out in a three-storey garment factory in the Naujore area of Gazipur city late last night (18 March), with seven firefighting units bringing it under control after nearly six hours of effort.
Mohammad Mamun, deputy director of Gazipur Fire Service, told The Business Standard today that dumping operations are currently underway.
He added that the exact cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage will be determined after an investigation.
“So far, there have been no reports of casualties,” he said.
According to local sources and the fire service, the blaze started on the ground floor of the factory at around 9pm last night.
Within moments, the flames spread rapidly through all three floors.
Local residents and the factory’s security guards attempted to contain the fire, but it quickly engulfed the entire building, sources said.
Upon receiving the alert, three units from Konabari Modern Fire Service and seven units from Gazipur Fire Service rushed to the scene, bringing the fire under control by 2:30am.
