Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River resumed after one and a half hours of disruption caused by dense fog this morning (11 April).
Abdus Salam, Deputy General Manager of BIWTC Aricha Sector, said ferry services on the busy route were suspended from around 6am as thick fog engulfed the Padma River.
A number of ferries and cargo vessels were forced to anchor mid-river, while a large number of vehicles, including passenger buses and goods-laden vehicles, became stuck on both sides of the river.
A long queue of vehicles was seen at Daulatdia and Paturia terminals, causing immense suffering to passengers.
Later, the ferry services resumed around 7:15am as the fog disappeared.
