The Ministry of Education has announced the temporary closure of English medium schools following foreign curricula and all coaching centres during Ramadan to reduce public congestion, said a press release.
The decision was made today (8 March) at a meeting of the Secondary and Higher Education Division in Dhaka, chaired by Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
Officials said the move followed discussions with representatives of English medium schools to consider the current global situation and ease congestion in Dhaka and other cities during the holy month. Several decisions were made unanimously.
According to the press release, all English medium schools will suspend classes from 9 March until the government-declared Eid-ul-Fitr holiday. Only mandatory examinations scheduled in advance will take place.
During the same period, all coaching centres, including Bangla and English medium, will remain closed.
