The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Dhaka has announced that Bangladeshi citizens will now be required to obtain a transit visa in advance before travelling through Egypt, following new directives from the country’s authorities.
In a notice issued today (30 March), the embassy said the transit visa must be issued through the Egyptian Embassy in Dhaka prior to travel. Travellers must also hold a valid passport and, where applicable, a valid visa or residence permit for their final destination.
According to the updated guidelines, Egypt must be a transit point in the traveller’s itinerary and entry will be subject to standard immigration checks, including ensuring the individual is not listed under any entry restrictions.
The embassy urged all travellers to secure the required transit visa ahead of time to avoid potential complications during their journey. It also advised applicants to contact the consular section for detailed procedures and further information.
However, the embassy clarified that previous provisions allowing visa on arrival for holders of valid visas from selected countries will remain in effect. The new transit visa requirement is intended for longer transit stays and will be valid for up to 72 hours after issuance.
