Economist Dr Sadiq Ahmed has voluntarily resigned from his position as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of Bangladesh Bank.
He informed the members of the central bank’s Monetary Policy Committee of his resignation today (4 March).
The Monetary Policy Committee (MPCC) of Bangladesh Bank comprises seven members, including four internal officials of the central bank led by the governor and three external experts.
The four internal members of the Monetary Policy Committee are the governor, a deputy governor, the executive director of the Monetary Policy Department, and the chief economist of the central bank.
The three external members include Dr Binayak Sen, director general of BIDS, Masuda Yasmeen, chairman of the Department of Economics at the University of Dhaka, and economist Dr Sadiq Ahmed, who served as the third external member.
