The Election Commission (EC) has formed an 18-member committee to prepare a comprehensive report on the 13th National Election and the referendum held in last February.
According to an office order signed today (1 April) by EC Senior Assistant Secretary Md Mamataz-Al-Shibli, the committee will collect information and photographs and develop a book-format layout for documentation.
The joint secretary of the EC’s Election Management-2 branch has been appointed as the convener, while the senior assistant secretary (Publication and Documentation) will serve as the member secretary.
The committee will prepare a report covering the commission’s activities from the time it assumed responsibility to the present.
These include updating the voter list, reforming laws and regulations, formulating policies, holding dialogues with stakeholders, registering local observer organisations, preparing the electoral roadmap, organising the referendum and the 13th National Election, conducting postal voting at home and abroad, registering political parties, and delimiting parliamentary constituencies.
It will also identify risks involved in these processes, describe how they were addressed, and offer recommendations for future improvements.
The 13th National Election and referendum were held on 12 February under the Election Commission led by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin.
