Two individuals, including a Dhaka University (DU) student, were detained by police for playing Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 7 March speech on a sound box at Chankharpul intersection in the capital today (7 March).
Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Moniruzzaman told The Business Standard that the individuals were taken into custody for playing Bangabandhu’s 7 March speech, which is prohibited.
He added that a decision regarding the detainees would be taken after discussion with higher authorities.
The detained student has been identified as Asif Ahmed. He is a student of the Physics Department at Dhaka University from the 2018-19 academic session and a resident of Shahidullah Hall.
Along with the DU student, police also detained the operator responsible for running the sound box and seized the sound system used to play the speech.
