The shortest way to the human heart is through the stomach, a saying that rang true at the Press Club of India last evening (27 March), where a festival celebrating Dhaka’s iconic kachchi biryani drew a large crowd.
The event, organised to mark the Independence Day of Bangladesh, saw the kachchi biryani dish sell out in just about an hour.
“The festival was held in the Club in the past too, barring in 2025. It shows the popularity of the dish not usually available in Delhi,” said a member of the Club who has attended the kachchi biryani festivals so far.
Beyond its cultural appeal, the event also highlighted a business angle. A total of 400 plates of kachchi biryani, each priced at Rs300 and served with ‘jaali kebab’ and ‘borhani’ were sold out within an hour of sales started at 6:30pm.
