After nearly one and a half decades, a passenger aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will once again land in Pakistan as direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi resume tomorrow (29 January).
Biman spokesperson Boshra Islam told The Business Standard that the first flight will depart Dhaka at 8pm tomorrow. She said the launch of the non-stop service will significantly reduce travel time and help passengers save up to Tk30,000 per person by eliminating transit costs.
Initially, Biman Bangladesh Airlines will operate two flights per week on this route.
The flights will be operated every Thursday and Saturday using a 162-seat Boeing 737 aircraft to cover the 1,471-mile distance between Dhaka and Karachi.
Biman authorities said all tickets for the inaugural flight have been sold out, while more than 80% of seats for the second flight have already been booked.
Boshra added that with the introduction of direct flights, passengers will be able to reach their destination within three hours and enjoy a more comfortable journey without the hassle of transit stops.
