‘Dawson’s Creek’ Heartthrob James Van Der Beek Dies at 48
James Van Der Beek, who played the wide-eyed, overly sensitive main character on the popular turn-of-the-millennium TV drama series “Dawson’s Creek,” died on Wednesday at age 48.

I was very fortunate that I experienced a great deal of success at age 20, and it ran for a long time. And then to be honest, I was pretty burned out by the end of that six-year run. I did quite a few movies in between, did a lot of press, did a lot of everything. And so I think I needed a little bit of time to of duck out and disappear for a bit and just kind of get my own bearings as to who I was and what I wanted to do. And then — and then it worked out.
