Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Cumilla Sadar (South) Police Station Mohammad Sirajul Islam said police are continuing their investigation while stepping up efforts to arrest those involved.

At that time, a car stopped in front of him, and one of the occupants asked whether he had called an Uber ride. Although Sohel said he had not, the man claimed his photo appeared in the app. When he attempted to verify the claim, three other men inside the vehicle forcibly pulled him into the car and assaulted him, striking him on the chest and head.
The perpetrators then took him to the Daudkandi area, where they took him to an Islami Bank ATM booth beside Abid Market. There, they withdrew Tk80,000 from his account in four transactions of Tk20,000 each.
They also took Tk15,000 from his wallet and transferred Tk2,500 from his bKash account, bringing the total amount robbed to Tk97,500.
After removing the SIM card from his mobile phone and resetting the device, the assailants later forced him out of the vehicle.
Sohel also said the attackers threatened to throw acid on him and render him unconscious with sedatives. They eventually refrained after he pleaded with them.
Before leaving, the perpetrators warned him not to look back and threatened to shoot if he did, the victim said.
