A Bangladeshi expatriate from Sandwip upazila in Chattogram has been killed in a missile attack in Kuwait.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Jahed Hossain, 28, son of Kamal Dafadar, a resident of Rahmatpur area under the upazila. He had been living in Kuwait for several years and was employed at a commercial establishment.
Ambassador of the Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait, Major General Syed Tarek Hussain, confirmed the death.
The news of his death reached his home yesterday (5 March) evening, casting a shadow of grief over his family and relatives.
The deceased’s brother-in-law, Md Babar Uddin, said, “Jahed spoke with his father in the morning. Later, we saw his body lying in the desert on the internet.”
Earlier, amid the ongoing Middle East conflict, another expatriate from Sandwip, Abul Mohsin Tarek, 48, was killed on Monday (2 March) when missile debris fell on a ship near Manama in Bahrain.
Tarek was a resident of the Paharer Go Mosque area of Azimpur union in Sandwip upazila and had been working in Bahrain for 27 years.
