A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of income tax records of former air force chief air chief marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan and his wife, Tahmida Begum.
The order was issued today (30 March) by the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge, Md Sabbir Faiz, following two separate applications filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Bench assistant of the court, Md Riaz Hossain, confirmed the development.
On behalf of the ACC, Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan submitted two separate petitions seeking seizure of their tax documents.
According to the petitions, Sheikh Abdul Hannan and his wife are registered taxpayers. For the sake of a fair investigation, it is necessary to seize their income tax records from the time of opening of files up to the 2024-25 tax year, including both permanent and miscellaneous sections, along with all relevant documents and information. After the hearing, the court granted the petitions.
