A Dhaka court has set 20 May for the charge framing hearing in a case filed over the alleged misappropriation of 27 kathas of government property in the Gulshan-2 area, involving former MP Abdus Salam Murshedy and 12 others.
The date for the hearing was scheduled for today (5 April) at Dhaka Special Judge Court-9, presided over by Judge Md Abdus Salam. Salam Murshedy and the other accused in custody were produced before the court, while those on bail appeared in person.
The defence lawyer for Salam Murshedy, Ehsanul Haque Samaji, sought discharge from the case and also filed a bail petition. After the hearing, the court rejected the bail plea and fixed 20 May for the charge hearing of all the accused.
Public Prosecutor Khandaker Shamim Hossain confirmed the matter, stating that lawyers for Salam Murshedy and Azizul Haque argued for discharge, and the next date was set after their submissions.
