The ruling party lawmakers of the special parliamentary committee have recommended scrapping 11 of the 133 ordinances issued by the interim government, including the Referendum Ordinance, 2025.
However, three opposition members of the committee submitted notes of dissent, proposing that those ordinances be retained.
The committee’s report was placed in the national parliament today (2 April).
According to the report, the committee recommended that 98 of the 133 ordinances issued by the interim government be introduced in parliament as bills in their current form.
It also suggested that 15 ordinances be placed before parliament as amended bills through the respective ministries. Of the remaining 20, the committee recommended that 16 should not be introduced immediately as bills; instead, they should undergo further review and be strengthened before being presented later as new legislation.
For four ordinances, the committee recommended that bills be brought to parliament immediately for their repeal and disposal.
The interim government issued the ordinances between 8 August 2024 and 17 February 2026.
