The Bangladesh Coast Guard West Zone has stepped up security on key waterways in Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure safe travel for passengers.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon said today (14 March) that the Coast Guard West Zone had undertaken special security operations at major launch terminals, ferry terminals and ferry ghats in the region.
He said coast guard personnel are conducting special patrols, public awareness announcements through loudspeakers, leaflet distribution, and searches of suspicious persons and vessels as part of the security drive.
Security measures also include scanning passengers’ bags and other precautionary checks, the official said.
Coast guard members will remain active to prevent any sabotage and maintain security on waterways during the Eid period, he added.
