A case has been filed against Russian-born Bangladeshi model and social media influencer Monika Kabir over allegations of publicly assaulting and harassing a pedestrian in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
The case was filed today (12 March) with the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain.
Dhaka South district unit President of Chhatra Adhikar Parishad Sajjad Al Islam filed the case.
After recording the complainant’s statement, the court directed the officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station to investigate the allegations and submit a report by 9 April.
Lawyer for the complainant, Shahidul Islam Suman, confirmed the development.
According to the case statement, the incident occurred around 4pm on 10 March at a four-way intersection opposite Royal Blue Plaza in Gulshan-2.
The complaint alleges that an elderly pedestrian was walking along the road when Monika, who was reportedly standing in the middle of the road filming a TikTok video, accidentally brushed against the corner of the man’s bag.
According to the complaint, Monika then attacked the man without provocation, threw his bag and physically assaulted him, causing humiliation and distress.
The accused also allegedly recorded the incident and later posted the video on social media, thereby insulting and publicly humiliating the pedestrian, the complaint added.
