A local BNP leader was shot and injured in the capital’s Panthapath area on Sunday night (22 February).
The victim, Shafikur Rahman, 55, is the joint general secretary of Ward-16 BNP.
Kalabagan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Fazle Ashiq confirmed the matter, saying that unidentified assailants shot Shafikur in front of a shoe shop opposite Bashundhara Shopping Complex at around 9:30pm and fled the scene.
He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, said the bullet passed through Shafikur’s left palm.
Doctors have declared him out of danger, he added.
