An auto-rickshaw driver was allegedly murdered after being lured out at night with a promise to repay unpaid dues in Lakshmipur’s Sadar upazila.
The victim, Farhad Hossain was found dead in a crop field near his home this morning (10 April). Police said the incident is being primarily treated as a case of murder.
According to his wife, Nargis Begum, Farhad received a phone call around 2am last night from someone promising to repay his dues and asking him to come out; he left home but did not return.
The next morning, his phone was found switched off. Later, the family was informed that his body had been discovered in a field about a kilometer from their house.
Farhad was the son of Md Didar Hossain from East Charmonsa village under Ward No. 8 of Tewariganj Union. He worked as an auto-rickshaw driver and was the father of one child.
Sub-Inspector Md Aminul of Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station said there were injury marks on the body, and the attackers had gouged out his right eye. The body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
