Police have filed a case over the attack on a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) team in Chattogram’s Jungle Salimpur area that left one RAB member dead and three others critically injured.
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, and firearms looted from RAB members during the attack have been recovered, police said.
The arrests were made during early-morning drives today (22 January), a day after the case was filed on Wednesday night and two days after the deadly assault.
The arrestees were identified as Yunus Ali, Jahid Hossain, and Mohammad Arif.
Confirming the development, Sitakunda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mohinul Islam told The Business Standard that police carried out drives in the Jungle Salimpur area following the filing of the case.
“We arrested two accused named in the case—Yunus and Jahid—and another suspect, Arif,” he said.
While the OC confirmed the recovery of looted firearms, he declined to disclose the exact number, saying the operation was still ongoing.
“The drive is continuing. We will confirm the details later,” he added.
However, district police sources said four foreign-made pistols looted from RAB members were recovered during the drives.
