The Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Dhaka, together with the Bangladesh–Algeria Business Forum, hosted an Iftar gathering in the capital today (25 February).
The gathering was attended by members of parliament, political leaders, business representatives, civil society members, and journalists, according to a press release.
Abdelouahab Saidani, ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh, addressed the event and thanked the business forum for co-organising it. He said relations between Algeria and Bangladesh are based on shared values, mutual respect, and a common vision for development.
The ambassador noted that since the opening of the Algerian Embassy in Dhaka in 2020, bilateral cooperation has expanded. Agreements and memoranda of understanding have been prepared in sectors including science and technology, energy, agriculture, and education, the release said.
“Ramadan promotes peace, solidarity, and mutual understanding,” Saidani said, expressing hope that relations between the two countries would continue to strengthen.
Mohd Nurul Mostafa, president of the Bangladesh–Algeria Business Forum, outlined the forum’s activities and its role in promoting trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The event concluded with a commitment to continue developing bilateral ties and cooperation in the years ahead.
