The government has appointed Professor Dr Mohammad Abu Zafar Khan as the vice-chancellor of Islamic Arabic University.
The appointment was announced in a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education today (17 March).
According to the notification, Prof Abu Zafar, currently serving as the pro-VC, has been appointed as the VC under Section 11 of the Islamic Arabic University Act, 2013.
As per the terms of the appointment, his tenure will be four years from the date of joining.
During his tenure, he will receive salary and allowances equivalent to his current position, along with other benefits in accordance with the rules, the notification said.
The notification also states that, as the chief executive of the university, he must remain present on campus at all times.
It further mentions that the president may cancel the appointment at any time if deemed necessary.
