A pink-coloured buffalo at a farm in Narayanganj has become the centre of public attention after going viral on social media.
The nearly 700kg albino buffalo, named “Donald Trump” because of the golden-coloured hair on its head, is being reared at Rabeya Agro Farm in the city’s Paikpara area.
According to farm sources, visitors have recently been flocking to see the animal, take photographs and cautiously touch the calm and gentle buffalo.
Farm owner Ziauddin Mridha said he bought the buffalo from a cattle market in Rajshahi around 10 months ago.
“My younger brother jokingly named it Donald Trump after seeing the hair on its head,” he said.
“It is very calm in nature. Albino buffaloes are generally peaceful and do not become aggressive unless provoked,” he added.
He also said the buffalo has already been sold at Tk550 per kg as live weight and will be delivered to its new owner next week.
Local resident Russell said he came to see the buffalo after watching videos on Facebook.
“It really does look like Trump. Its face and hair resemble him closely,” he said.
Another visitor, Mim, who came with her child, said she initially thought the comparison was exaggerated after seeing posts online.
“But after seeing it in person, it actually looks like Trump. The name suits it well,” she said.
Farm caretaker Kawser said the buffalo receives special care, including four baths a day.
“We feed it corn, oil cake, bran, rice husk and grass,” he said.
Farm authorities said they have prepared at least 200 cattle for Eid-ul-Adha this year, almost all of which have already been booked, with deliveries to buyers set to begin next week.
